I was just notified by email from Charlie Loving that my dear friend Ed Alexander has died.
"Ed Alexander was DOA at Methodist Hospital San Antonio. He reportedly hit his head diving into the Medina River at 1 AM. Bridgette was at hospital. Kids under care of the caver women on the Medina River. "
I have known and been friends with Ed since I was 18 years old. I thought his special luck in life would out live all of us.
In tears and shock, Peggy

Peggy,
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog.
I share your profound sense of shock and loss.
Ed's life was like a meteor- wasn't it?
Bright burning, but out too quickly.
or kinda like the sky rockets he would shoot of the rooftops at Real de Catorce.
Bright flash of lights and spectacle, done to soon. Anyway, take care. Hug a dog!
I posted an entry on my blog after this weekend.

Wow, I feel like a baby blog after reading your blog. This is my first atttempt at blog style writing.
ReplyDeleteEd was always in the middle of fun and one of the kindest friends. His kindness was light on your shoulders and practical.
He encouraged everyone to be at Paradise Canyon again this year.
It was an accident that took him. A foot or so to the left and his shallow dive could have missed the rock.
Could have, should have - its a great mystery.
I guess in my self absorption I felt that my dance with death was keeping death occupied enough to keep my friends safe. How small my view was.
Goodbye to a loving friend, husband and father to Thomas, Mimi and Luc.
Your words are kind and comforting. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteKeep writing.
I write to heal myself, make sense of the world these days.
It doesn't matter to me that no one reads my blog! :-)
But how nice when someone does...
